a gps that allows you to put in multiple stops and optimize a route with features specifically for delivery?
Okay I have a magellan that allows me to put in multiple destinations and then puts them in order and sets a route up, but I had an instance the other day where i had to go to different stops and some were on the west end of a street and some were on the east side, this wouldnt be a big deal on a small residential street but this was a 6 lane road with a median in the middle and when you turn out at most points you are only allowed to turn right. What I need is a gps that will allow you to set it up a route where the sequence of the stops is not solely determined by the address number like 832 maple ave, 841 maple ave, 860 maple ave, 875 maple, 888 maple ave,897, 910 maple ave, 925 maple ave. BUT INSTEAD IT allows you to do all the STOPS ON ONE SIDE OF THE STREET (EAST OR SOUTH) AND THEN you turn around and do ALL THE ONES ON THE OTHER SIDE(WEST OR NORTH) . So it would go something like WEST:
832, 860,888,910 —-WEST 841,875, 897, 925. I hear that UPS sets up the routes like this so that the drivers are not wasting time criss crossing the same road all day. The company I am currently under contract with is light years behind UPS, so im pretty much left to my own wits when it comes to finding the stops. My truck is a 16ft box– under cdl so dont really need all the trucker options like showing you the weight restrictions and weigh stations and truck stop. Anyone in a same situation Please let me know what you use.
